Working with pictures is something most of us do on a regular basis, especially if a digital camera and a vacation are involved. Sharing the images with family and friends is nowadays a common practice that requires a bit of work for making them fit an e-mail attachment or comply with a website’s hosting requirements. To do this, one must have the appropriate tools that operate fast and provide a good quality at the lowest price possible.
Such a piece of software is the Batch Picture Resizer, a small tool with a great potential. The developer offers you a 30-day trial to familiarize with it and test its full potential, whereas, after that, you need to buy it for 29.95$.
With Batch Picture Resizer, you can easily convert your pictures into more popular known formats, including: JPG, GIF, BMP, PNG, PCX, TIFF and TGA. The interface is very intuitive, with no tricky buttons or menus that can slow you down from your work.
The upper part of the main window allows you to find and… (Read the rest of this article at the following article source link for the full story)
All the information regarding the plot of Dragon Rising is given in the cinematic at the beginning of the campaign, without any sort of in-game cut-scenes. In the very near future claims over the oil-rich Skira Island escalate to an all-out conflict between Russia and China. Both countries claim ownership, both need the natural resources that it offers and none are willing to back down from a fight. Even if the clash is waged by the Russian and the Chinese soldiers, you will be neither. You are part of the USMC and will impersonate more that just one soldier. If you don’t understand how America is involved in the conflict or what the American troops are doing on the battlefront you’re not up to date with modern history. If there’s a war going on somewhere, America will be there. And if there’s oil involved, they’ll even win.
Codemasters’s Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising drops you straight into the action. The first seconds of the game show your steady hand gripping the Mk.16… (Read the rest of this article at the following article source link for the full story)
We knew that FIFA 10 was big. After all, millions of people have been playing the series since its first release and the hype surrounding it is high. Electronic Arts has officially announced that FIFA 10 is the fastest selling sports-based videogame ever and that it is the biggest launch the publisher has seen in Europe. FIFA 10 managed to sell 1.7 million copies in the first week on sale and it could break some more records in the coming months.
Peter Moore, who is the president of EA Sports, said that “We were confident that FIFA 10 would be a hit, and this week fans across Europe have shown just how much they love this game. We are incredibly proud of FIFA 10 and this kick-off for great, authentic football competition.”
The game received a lot of positive feedback from reviewers and EA Sports is also claiming that, at the moment, it is the highest rated sports videogame ever on both the Xbox 360 from Microsoft and the PlayStation 3 from Sony. As many as 155,000 players were online… (Read the rest of this article at the following article source link for the full story)
What do you do in order to restrict actions such as file copying/moving or even launching programs on your system? There are workarounds in Windows that can help you with setting restrictions like these, but it is not a feasible solution when you need to impose the limitations quickly and without too much hassle. Plus you’d have to really know your way around Windows in order not to fumble, or worse, mess up user/group permission settings.
Luckily there are alternatives to the matter from third-party developers. M File Anti-Copy brings a rather elegant solution to the problem at hand by letting you easily restrict file copying and even application launching. It has already been reviewed here, at Softpedia, and raked unfortunate scores due to some bugs that either prevented the app from applying the file-copying restriction or because some options did not stick after enabling them.
The current version is 4.3 and comes for a $14.75 price. The trial covers only 15 runs, so wasting… (Read the rest of this article at the following article source link for the full story)
YouTube may have the online video market pretty much cornered, but there are a few online video sites out there that have had some success by going for a slightly different market. Vimeo is one such site and, while its traffic numbers are nowhere near YouTube’s, the overall quality of the content available is leaps and bounds above what Google’s video site has to offer. Now, the site has released a couple of features that should prove useful to the budding video artist, like a desktop uploader and detailed video-usage statistics.
First up is the upcoming desktop uploader that greatly simplifies the task of uploading multiple videos, while also saving the user a lot of headaches. “You’ve been asking for it for years, and now it’s coming: the Desktop Uploader is a fancy new way to upload your videos without ever launching your web browser. This should be perfect for those of you who sometimes have trouble uploading, and for folks who would like to batch upload a bunch of videos at… (Read the rest of this article at the following article source link for the full story)
Guy Laliberte, the founder of the internationally renowned circus troupe Cirque du Soleil, broadcast his environmental message from aboard the ISS yesterday night, the peak of his activities on the station, before setting off to Earth again today. The show was transmitted live on Onedrop.org and AOL.com, as the billionaire space tourist attempted to raise international public awareness on water issues affecting millions around the world. Laliberte said that being on the International Space Station granted him the possibility of benefiting from more media attention than it would have been possible on Earth, in addition to fulfilling one of his childhood dreams, Space reports.
“I’m very proud today to say that we have a fantastic event. This artistic mission permits me to raise awareness for the water issue,” he said before launching to the space lab on September 30, aboard the Russian-built Soyuz TMA-16 space capsule. “It’s going to be a celebrity event – between U2 and Al Gore… (Read the rest of this article at the following article source link for the full story)
South Korean mobile-phone maker Samsung and Giorgio Armani announced on Friday the release of the Windows Mobile 6.5-powered Samsung B7620, a nice-looking device that sports a slide-and-tilt, 3.5-inch AMOLED full touchscreen display, a QWERTY keyboard and a Nokia N97 mini-like design. Even so, the new mobile phone has all that it takes to appeal to any user on the market, except maybe for the leveraged price tag it comes around with: €700 (or around $1,035).
Powered by an ARM1176 CPU running at 800MHz, which is coupled with 192MB of RAM, the new handset should play nicely with the latest iteration of Microsoft’s Windows Mobile operating system. It is neither the first Samsung handset that comes with Giorgio Armani’s logo on it, nor the first one to sport this form factor, but it does come as a uniquely styled, golden mobile phone.
JK Shin, executive vice president and head of the Mobile Communications Division at Samsung Electronics, said, “We are delighted to have reached… (Read the rest of this article at the following article source link for the full story)
MTV recently unveiled the 2009 list of Hottest MCs in the Game and, while as expected, Jay-Z came on top, there was one name that was notably absent from it: Eminem. Fans were upset, especially since “less hot” artists than Em made the cut, but also upset was Jay-Z, who took the time to write a lengthy letter to MTV asking for an explanation for the omission, as Rap Up informs.
According to Jay, while being named the hottest MC of the year is clearly a distinction he’s most proud of, it’s not what he aims to do. The rapper vouches with little to no modesty that his career dream is that of being the best of all times and not simply over a determined period of time, such as it is the case of the yearly awards and accolades. In order to achieve this, he’s working more than he would have ever thought humanly possible, which is also why he’s almost convinced he can pull off the amazing feat, Jay-Z begins by saying.
And then Jay interrupts himself to call on MTV to offer an… (Read the rest of this article at the following article source link for the full story)
We’re getting closer to the general availability of Windows 7 on October 22nd, 2009, and to the final review of the operating system, for which I’ll use the Ultimate version, so make sure to tune in next week. For the time being, however, I played around with the closest thing to the Ultimate SKU when it came down to Windows 7, namely the Enterprise version. Just as the Professional SKU, Enterprise is not designed for end users. In fact, customers won’t even be able to acquire Windows 7 Enterprise except via Volume Licensing, and they would already need to have a Software Assurance agreement signed with Microsoft.
Only the largest of corporate customers will get the Windows 7 Enterprise bits. In this regard it is important to note that Enterprise is not the equivalent of the Professional SKU. If anything, it supersedes Windows 7 Professional, and is on par with the Ultimate version of the operating system. Customers that buy Enterprise essentially get the same features,… (Read the rest of this article at the following article source link for the full story)
Windows Mobile 6.5, the latest phase of the evolution of Microsoft’s mobile operating system, has been just released on the market, in line with the previously announced plans from the Redmond-based software giant. Since the new platform is out of the labs, the company is now shifting its focus towards the development of Windows Mobile 7, the next flavor of the OS.
Expected to be released to manufacturing sometime in November this year, with the first handsets to run under it set for launch in April next year, Windows Mobile 7 has been pushed back a little, and things have turned to another path. As previously mentioned, the platform is now set to make an appearance on the market sometime in the second half of 2010, about six months later than originally previsioned.
The latest bits of information that emerged into the wild also tend to sustain this theory. A recent post on msftkitchen provides a slide from a Microsoft presentation from August, showing that Windows Mobile 7… (Read the rest of this article at the following article source link for the full story)
