South Korean mobile phone maker Samsung and Agito Networks, provider of innovative solutions in enterprise mobility, have recently announced a partnership through which Samsung’s smartphones will receive the functionality of the first “server-based enterprise fixed mobile convergence (eFMC) and mobile Unified Communications solution” available commercially. An international team of researchers, comprising scientists from the State University of Pennsylvania, in the US, and the Universidad Autonoma de Madrid (UAM), in Spain, has recently been able to replicate biological structures at the nanoscale. It has been, for instance, capable of recreating the wing of a butterfly from biological material. The innovation has considerable application potential in constructing optically active structures such as optical diffusers for solar panels.

“This technique was developed at the Materials Research Institute of the State University of Pennsylvania and it enables replicas of biological structures to be made on a nanometric scale,” UAM Department of Applied Physics lecturer Raul J. Martín-Palma, who is also the co-author of a new study detailing the finds, tells SINC. The team presents its discoveries in the latest issue of the respected scientific journal Bioinspiration & Biomimetics.

Three of the HTC handsets available currently on the market in Malaysia with Microsoft’s Windows Mobile 6.1 operating system on board will soon receive an update to the latest flavor of the platform, 6.5, the Taiwanese mobile phone maker announced today. According to the company, the newly purchased HTC Touch Pro2, Touch Diamond2 and Snap are to receive an update to the Windows Mobile 6.5 operating system in the near future, while already updated variants of these devices will be launched on the market before the end of October.

The prevailing philosophy at Microsoft seems to be that you can never have enough Halo. The recently launched Orbital Drop Shock Trooper content was initially set to be a download-only add on, but it grew into a full fledged 60-dollar title.

Bungie was supposed to be breaking off with the software giant to pursue its own projects but now it is slated to create and release Halo: Reach in 2010. And it seems that’s not even remotely the end for Halo-related content.

Frank O’Connor, who is the creative director for 343 Industries, the new entity in charge of the development of the franchise, has talked to USA Today about the long term plans, saying that “We do have a plan that goes out at least six years. Mobile phone carrier AT&T and leading single source provider of machine-to-machine (M2M) products and services Numerex have announced recently the extension of their agreement to deliver services for M2M enterprise markets.
